How to import AI document extraction results safely
An AI tool can help turn a document into structured text, but its output is still a suggestion. A safe import workflow keeps the source document, generated JSON, person match, and saved fields separate until a person reviews the result.

Generate a compatible result
Open Import information in FamiForm and choose the external AI option. Copy or download the versioned prompt and schema, then provide those instructions and the document only to an AI service you have independently chosen and trust.
Ask the external service to return JSON only. FamiForm does not require a particular AI brand, and it does not receive the document during this external step. Review that service’s privacy and retention settings before providing personal information.
Validate the package before saving
Paste the JSON result or upload the JSON file. FamiForm checks the schema version, field types, calendar dates, record limits, and required labels locally before presenting the review step.
The importer ignores source-file paths and does not accept signature images. It can suggest multiple people and information sets, but you must match each result to one existing person or deliberately create a new person before saving.
Treat extraction as a draft
Deselect anything that is unnecessary or uncertain, correct labels and values, and compare identifiers and dates character by character with the original. An AI result can confuse document numbers, dates, countries, or nearby labels even when the JSON is valid.
Only the fields you approve are sent to your private workspace. Keep the original document optional, and delete the external AI conversation or upload according to the privacy controls of the service you used.
Does FamiForm send the document to the external AI service?
No. You choose and operate the external service separately. FamiForm receives only the JSON result you paste or upload for local validation and review.
Does valid JSON mean the extracted values are accurate?
No. Schema validation checks structure, not truth. Compare every suggestion with the original before importing it.
